by Lady David - Curator
Front Cover:
This is a very interesting old booklet about a museum collection. This is a copy of the second impression which was published in 1962 by the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. The soft cover book measures 5 1/8 inches by 7 ¼ inches and contains 28 pages plus four pages of plates. The soft cover book shows signs of wear to the edges, mainly the lower right hand corner as you can see. The cover is firmly attached. The book is bound by thread. The pages are printed on good quality, glossy paper and show no signs of rips. Exceptions noted, the overall condition of this lovely old book is very good.
Note: This auction also includes a little “Prospectus” brochure containing information about “The Foundation” and the museum. The brochure tells about “The Collection,“ “The Library” and gives the hours and rules for visitation.

A number of these specimens came originally from the former Chinese Imperial Collection in Peking, some of them being inscribed with poems and other comments from the imperial Ch’ien-lung brush. Even more important, however, are the objects with inscriptions contemporary with the date of their manufacture; for these serve to illustrate various interesting phases of the Chinese way of life and the development of the potter’s craft…
