This is a copy of the November, 1896 edition of this magazine. In addition to the main article, the book contains some news, notes and advertisements. The magazine measure 6 ˝ inches by 9 ˝ inches and contains a total of 24 pages (including covers). The inside front cover and back covers are printed as well. Note: the pages are numbered from the start of the year. The soft cover is securely attached. The cover shows minor signs of wear. There is a tear at the top of the spine approximately ˝ inch down. The pages show no signs of rips or foxing. Exceptions noted, the overall condition of this old magazine is between good plus to very good.

Excerpt – Italian Renaissance Cornices:
The cornice is the upper moulding, or collection of mouldings, of a wall, designed in exterior work to protect the wall itself from the drip of rain and to form an agreeable finish, and also to receive the roof where one is used, and in interiors to serve as a gradual transition from the vertical surfaces of the wall to the horizontal ceiling.

In the earlier and simpler styles the cornice existed merely as cavetto moulding, but this developed gradually into an ornamental feature made up of a number of members. Those archeologists and students of architecture who trace the Greek and Roman orders to a wooden prototype use the classic cornice with its supporting frieze and architrave as one of their most convincing arguments in support of this derivation…
