This is a copy of the February, 1896 edition of this magazine. In addition to the main article, the book contains some news, notes and advertisements. The magazine measure 6 ½ inches by 9 ½ inches and contains a total of 36 pages (including covers). The inside front cover and back covers are printed as well. Note: the pages are numbered from the start of the year. The soft cover is securely attached. The cover shows minor signs of wear. There are two small tears, one along the right side of the front cover (approximately ½ inch) and the other along the left edge of the back cover(approximately ¼ inch). The cover has a tear at the top of the spine approximately ½ inch long and at the bottom approximately ¼ inch. The pages show no signs of rips or foxing. Exceptions noted, the overall condition of this old magazine is between good plus to very good.

Excerpt – The Small Churches of Normandy:
The department of Siene-Inferieure lies at the mouth and to the north of the river Seine upon the coast of the English Channel. It is one of the most fertile and prosperous portions of the province of Normandy which has long been noted for its production of cheese. This fact furnishes a key both to its physical characteristics and to the character of its inhabitants. Nevertheless its seaport towns have from early times maintained an important foreign commerce, and in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries sent out fleets which penetrated to all parts of the world. Their explorations in America at this time are especially notable. The incidents used as the framework of Planquette’s pleasing opera, “The Chimes of Normandy,” will be remembered as hanging upon the return of a Norman nobleman after an absence of a number of years in America…
