Switzerland

A Short Survey

Front Cover:

This is a neat old book about Switzerland. The book contains no date, however, I would guess it to be circa 1940’s. It was published during the time that Enrico Celio was Federal Councillor. He was served that position from 1940 to 1950. He served as president during 1943 and 1948.

The soft cover book measures 4 ¾ inches by 7 1/8 inches and contains 64 pages. The cover is securely attached. The cover shows signs of wear to the edges and there are several light “creases” to the cover. The book is bound by staples The pages show no signs of rips or foxing. Exceptions noted, the overall condition of this old book is good plus.

“Just One Wish” enclosure. Note that the edges are a bit ragged.

Land-blocked in the centre of the Continent, Switzerland has neither seaboard, nor colonies.

The inhabitants have no common language, for they speak French, German, and Italian and, in certain districts, also Romansh or various dialects. And yet this country is neither German, nor French, nor Italian. Nor does any religious unity prevail, as three-fifths of the population are protestant and the remainder catholic…
