by Capt. Mayne Reid
Front Cover/Spine:
This is a wonderful old, historical novel. It tells about the ‘Illustrious Morelos’ and his service during the Mexican Revolution. The book was published in MDCCCXCVII (1897) by G.W. Dillingham Co., New York. The book measures 5 ¼ inches by 7 ½ inches and contains 368 pages. The tan cloth cover has lovely pictorials on the front. The cover is lightly soiled. The cover shows signs of wear to the edges, corners and to the top and bottom of the spine. The spine is tight and the hinges are strong. The paper covering the front hinge is split towards the bottom (approximately 1 ¼ inches) but the hinge still holds securely. The end pages are yellowed. The pages show no signs of rips or foxing. Exceptions noted, the overall condition of this old book is near very good.

His public career having become historic, was, of course known to every one who chose to read of him. But what I desired was a more personal and intimate knowledge of this remarkable man, who from being the humble curate of an obscure village in Oajaca, became the victorious leader of a well appointed army, and master of all the southern provinces of New Spain…
