Leather Working

Edited by Paul N. Hasluck

Front Cover/Spine:

This is a neat old book. It tells all about how to make things with leather. It contains patterns and instructions for making wonderful items out of leather. The applications are endless; footballs, rugby balls; dog leashes; muzzles; skate straps; men’s suspenders; purses; luggage; instrument cases and much, much more. The book was published in 1904 by David McKay, Philadelphia. The book measures 4 ¼ inches by 6 7/8 inches and contains 160 pages. The book is profusely illustrated. The green cloth pictorial cover shows signs of light soiling. The cover shows minor signs of wear, hardly worth mentioning. The lower right corner of the book is slightly bumped. The spine is tight and the hinges are strong. The pages are printed on good quality paper and show no signs of rips or foxing. The end pages are printed with advertisements. Exceptions noted, the overall condition of this interesting old book is very good.

Excerpt - Preface:
This Handbook contains, in a form convenient for everyday use, a comprehensive digest of the information on Leather Working, scattered over more than twenty thousand columns of Work – one of the weekly journals it is my fortune to edit – and supplies concise information on the details of the subjects on which it treats.

In preparing for publication in book form the mass of relevant matter contained in the volumes of work, much had to be arranged anew, altered, and largely re-written. From these causes the contributions of many are so blended that the writings of individuals cannot be distinguished for acknowledgement.

Readers who may desire additional information respecting special details of the matters dealt with in this Handbook, or instructions on kindred subjects, should address a question to Work, so that it may be answered in the columns of that journal.

P.N. Hasluck.
