This pamphlet on pirates was first published in the spring of 1960 by what was then known as the State Department of Archives and History. One of a series of booklets issued for the use of schoolchildren, it is again being reprinted because of continuing demand.

The Pirates of Colonial North Carolina was written by Dr. Hugh F. Rankin, a Ph.D. Graduate of the University of North Carolina and longtime member of the faculty of the Department of History at Tulane University.
