Front Cover:
This is a very lovely, old book. It was published in 1923 by The Devin-Adair Company, New York. The book measures 5 5/8 inches by 8 1/8 inches and contains 424 pages. The blue cloth cover has an embossed and textured finish with the title in gilt on the front. The gilt title on the spine is a bit rubbed. The cover is spotted in places and shows signs of wear to the edges, corners and to the top and bottom of the spine. The spine is tight and the hinges are strong. The word students is inscribed on the inside front cover. The pages show no signs of rips or foxing. Exceptions noted, the overall condition of this book is good.

Excerpt - Preface:
The following popular biographies were prepared originally for various societies of women. It has been the experience of the author that it is difficult year after year to get fresh topics for addresses to sodalities. In offering these papers to the public he has in mind first of all his brother clergy, hoping that they will find herein some suggestions for a series of interesting talks, More than that, he desires that the life of each of these great wives and mothers be known to all. One of the greatest glories of the Church is her noble womanhood. And to-day especially, when the world in may different ways is seeking to turn our women from the pursuit of the Christian ideal in wifehood and motherhood, there is need surely of recalling the inspiriting stories of these women who sought first of all the kingdom of God.
