This book was published in 1947 by The Heritage Press, New York. The book measures 7 ¼ inches by 10 ¾ inches and contains 427 pages. The book comes in a slip case. The case shows minor signs of wear but is in good condition. The green cloth cover of the book itself has the title in gilt on the spine and a lovely gilt pictorial on the front. The cover shows minor signs of wear, hardly worth mentioning. The spine is tight and the hinges are strong. There is a personal book plate on the front free end page. The pages show no signs of rips. Exceptions noted, the overall condition of the book itself is very good.

Now, of course, Westward Ho! Has been printed and reprinted and reprinted, in the near century since the book was first published. It has been read by millions of men and women. But it is probable that the book has been read, by most of them, in a condensed version. For Westward Ho! Is a long, long book, long even by the standards of that Victorian Age in which novels were usually published as three deckers. But Westward Ho! Is full also of a rabid anti-Jesuitism: its author was Church of England and he was a socialist, and he thought all evil began and ended in Romish teaching, and he poured his thoughts into this novel. In most reprints of Westward Ho!, therefore, the long winded Victorian animadversions are omitted; and also are omitted the bitter, violent, sardonic, sarcastic anti-Jesuit paragraphs and pages…
