Manual of Military Training

By Colonel James A. Moss

Front Cover:

This is a nice piece of World War I era military memorabilia. This book was published in 1917 by General Agents, George Banta Publishing Company; Army and College Printers, Menasha, Wisconsin. The book measures 5 inches by 7 3/8 inches and contains 666 pages. The blue cloth cover has the title in gilt on the front and down the spine. The cover shows signs of wear to the edges, corners and to the top and bottom of the spine. The spine is tight and the hinges are strong. It appears that the book has been repaired several times. The front free end page being partly glued to the inside front cover, and ghost tape markings across the back hinge. At this point the hinges are strong and the spine is tight. There is an inscription of the front free end page and notes on the reverse side of that page. The pages show no signs of rips or foxing. Exceptions noted, the overall condition of this book is good.

In a pocket on the inside of the back cover were found:

A map of Fort Levenworth, Kansas; 9 ¾ inches by 14 inches, slightly tattered at edges
Something called an Elementary map, 12 inches by 19 inches, showing elevations, etc in good condition
